ArtWalk Livermore 2010 on Saturday!
Tomorrow (maybe TODAY, if you’re not “glued to the Internet” 
), Saturday, October 9, 2010 (11 AM to 5 PM) is ArtWalk Livermore 2010! Sure, Cheshire Cat Photo will be there, in location #59 at the Plaza on First Street.
(Note added October 9, 2010: Of course, it would not be “art” if it were not flexible. My actual position at ArtWalk 2010 was about 100 yards east of the location above, but it was a wonderful position and the credit card processing station was nearby.)
“What the heck is ArtWalk Livermore 2010?” I’m glad that you asked!
The event is the 9th Annual ArtWalk, a mix of an art show and a street festival, and it brings people out to enjoy a day of art, music (another art!), and shopping (sometimes an art, sometimes a skill, sometimes an obsession! ). Over 150 artists (I have heard around 200, which is clearly OVER 150 ) will set up exhibits displaying their works in boutique shops, wine bars, restaurants, on sidewalks, and in parks in this “heart of the wine country” town. Art ranges from contemporary to traditional, pottery to textile art, paintings, photography, handmade jewelry and more, from artists who are just beginning to award-winning professionals that display in museums and galleries across the country.
And the MUSIC…! There is “an all-day, all-acoustic music event at the Livermore Valley Plaza, with excellent musicians from locals to an ArtWalk regular who flies in from Nashville, Tennessee for the event.” The details are HERE, on music organizer Valley SingOut’s volunteer web page at www.valleysingout.com.

ArtWalk 2010 Highlights
- Arts Activities and Craft Vendors on J Street, between First & Second (especially fun for kids)
- Take a ride in the ArtWalk Limo down to the Vine Center, check out the artists there, the cool new setup at the Vine (beer, wine and dinner from Zephyr’s during your movie!) and make sure to see the Ekphrasis exhibit at Windermere organized by Livermore’s Poet Laureate, Cher Wollard. Catch the limo back to the ArtWalk core and make a stop at Art Glass or Uncle Yu’s to minimize your walk.
- Get an up-close view of the Art Banners for the first time – and make a bid!
- Food Samplings at several exhibiting restaurants, including The Carvery at Harry’s Hofbrau and El Charro Taqueria – and check out El Charro’s wonderful new digs.
- Explore new businesses downtown – The Breakfast Stop and the new digs of the First Street Alehouse.
- Don’t miss the several working artist studios in the Historic Old Firehouse, right across from the Bankhead Theater.
- Browse several downtown gallery and art display sites that regularly show local works, including Wild Vine, Panama Red, and the Ryan Fine Art Gallery downstairs from It’s All About Dancing.
- Enjoy exceptional live music throughout the day.
- View group exhibits from the Sculpture Studio, a group of San Francisco Art Academy graduates at the Bankhead Theater, The Art Glass Shop, area high schools, Las Positas Community College, the Disabled Veteran’s Painting Group, and the award-winning Pathways to Picasso group, as well as the Christ-Centered Arts Festival/Trinity Church group and the Decorative Painting Society.

I’m exhausted already, and I haven’t even set up my booth yet! A good night’s sleep, though, and I should be ready to GO! I hope to see many of you local folks at ArtWalk – I have toured this event for many years (and exhibited), and it is always a lot of fun!
