California July 2008 Unemployment at 7.3%

The figures for July are in, and KTVU TV news last night said that California’s jobless rate was 7.3% in July, which contrasts with the national average of 5.7%. The rate of unemployment in Silicon Valley was around 6.4%. Although the wrong news article is associated with the headline, you can read the headline.

The national average of 5.7% in July was the highest in 6 years, and the California figure of 7.3% was the highest in 12 years, and one of the highest in the country, according to KTVU TV news.
