Livermore Valley Harvest Wine Celebration 2008

Livermore Valley Vineyards

Life is a celebration!

Sometimes it is easy to forget that.

We can easily become numbed by life’s struggles, unemployment at the state and national level, inflation, politics, short-sightedness, greed, and all of the ailments of modern living. We tend to suppress our natural biology, even our need for sleep. It is good to remember a time when the harvest was a time for celebration, when human cycles were closer to nature’s own cycles.

The 27th Annual Livermore Valley Harvest Wine Celebration showcases the wines of 43 wineries on Sunday, August 31 and Monday, September 1, 2008. Each winery has complementary wine tasting of at least 2 different varietals. Live bands will be playing music throughout the day on both days. Food from local restaurants will be available for purchase. Vendors will be selling their wares. Over 30 complementary shuttle buses will be traveling 7 different routes.

According to the web site, designated driver and kid tickets are $10 and cover both days. Tickets covering both days are $50 in advance ($55 on the day of the event). Monday-only tickets are $45, according to the web site. The web site also has links for ticket purchases and information on recommended hotels.

What can I say? We have attended this event almost every year for almost 20 years. When we first attended, there were fewer than 15 wineries on the tour. Now there are 43! (The price of the event has also increased during that time, far too dramatically in recent years.) We have always enjoyed the event tremendously (not a recommendation)! If you do not drink, the $10 designated driver ticket provides admission to up to 2 full days of fun, food, and live music among the vineyards!

If the above description sounds like a good time, and you find yourself in the area, come visit us in the Livermore Valley! Relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the end of summer, at the harvest.
