Jerusalem Fire enters Napa County, grows to 16,500 acres, only 6% contained

With temperatures in the high 90s forecast for this weekend, the work of firefighters battling the Jerusalem and Rocky Fires will become even harder! Some 150 residents of the Hidden Valley area, who had just returned to their homes after evacuation from the 70,000-acre Rocky Fire, have now been evacuated again as the result of the Jerusalem Fire! The Jersusalem Fire is only 6% contained (Rocky Fire is now 88% contained). The cooler temperatures yesterday helped firefighters, but erratic winds blew the fire into hard-to-access, rugged regions.

Firefighters have been combatting the Jerusalem Fire with FOUR air tankers that drop fire retardant and 18 helicopters dumping water. The fire has been burning the rocky landscape 7 miles northeast of Middletown, California. The Jerusalem Fire is only three days old!
