Photoessay: Time lapse, Yosemite National Park

Los Angeles Times photographer, Mark Boster, presents a year of photographing Yosemite National Park, one of the comparatively few places in California that have four seasons (most of the rest have two: wet and dry). Boster’s first photo taken in Yosemite was at age 4 (with a Kodak Brownie box camera that looks identical to the one my brother used and now owns). LA Times video journalist, Don Kelsen, captures some of Boster’s experiences.

The photoessay made me wish for a faster Internet connection. Some of my friends who still work in high tech will enjoy this essay through much faster connections. I am now pausing the presentation and letting it download so that I can enjoy it with continuity.

Does anyone out there beside me remember “14.4” (and earlier!) modems? :-)

For those of you live so far away, Boster’s photoessay gives you a sense of what it is like to visit Yosemite. For folks like me, who live only about 3.5 hours or so away, his photoessay makes me want to load the car. I hope that Boster’s employer paid for all of those Canon “L-series” lenses! :-)

Boster talks about childhood vacations in Yosemite. My comparable memories are of a place called Red House Lake in Allegany State Park in New York state. Boster was fortunate, but our families both taught us about the beauty of the natural world.

The video is amazing, as are the “moonbows” in the mists of Yosemite Falls.

The “full package” of “still” shots, “Four seasons in Yosemite,” is HERE!

Enjoy!

(I still want to load the car. Maybe I could borrow a few of the L-series lenses? :-) )
