I had almost missed it!

I just returned from an artist’s reception at the wonderful, brand-new Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton, California, where I enjoyed incredible art, great wine and food, and unexpectedly fascinating conversation! I will write about it another time, because today, September 19, comes but once each year.

It is International Talk-Like-a-Pirate Day!

Take a deep breath… tilt your head back… and say, “Arrrrrrrrrgh!”

Don’t you feel better, already? :-)

You KNOW International Talk Like a Pirate Day is a special holiday (a parodic holiday, according to Wikipedia) because there is an ACRONYM for it (ITLAPD)!

For a moment, IGNORE the “conspiracy theorists” who question why the acronym begins with “IT” and ends with “…LAPD.” Just ENJOY it! :-)

This is not just some promotional stunt dreamed up by a couple of foolish Americans. 😉 ITLAPD is, most assuredly, “international.” The proof is here with a map of “Talk Like a Pirate” parties and celebrations, as well as a video with advice for “Wooing Wenches,” especially of the “Mad Sally” variety. And don’t forget the link to the Facebook Fan Page….

So kick back, relax, and enjoy the rest of the day. Make your enemies walk the plank or merely admonish them with one of my favorite pieces of pirate advice, “Them that DIES will be the LUCKY ones!” :-)
