I mentioned that it is National Park Week, from April 17-25, with FREE admission to ALL of the National Parks in the United States. (During National Park Week, they’re not just “America’s Best Idea,” they’re also FREE to visit! 
Today I took some of my own good advice and drove to Yosemite Valley. I wrote about last year’s April visit here and included links to photos.
Since I left for Yosemite about 13 hours ago, and returned home about 45 minutes ago, I will tell you about the trip tomorrow. Even though I got a late start, I took the longer, lower-elevation route to Yosemite Valley, through Merced River Canyon. I also took a lot of CDs and used the cruise control a lot through the less interesting parts of the trip, so I was barely driving (in contrast to riding a motorcycle, where you are actively driving and thinking pretty much every minute – at least those of us who like to live). Seriously, driving even a manual transmission four-wheeler is barely driving compared to the level of awareness of a a motorcyclist. Needless to say, I was pretty relaxed by the time I got there.
The day was sunny and beautiful with comfortable temperatures. (The windows were down most of the time!)
If I were you, and I lived close to a National Park (3.5 hours is pretty close), I would GO there tomorrow (Sunday, April 25), the last day of National Park Week, and then read my blog after you get back!
