A combat soldier of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) was sentenced to 10 days imprisonment, was removed from his battalion and all combat postings, and had his combat certificate revoked after he posted details of an upcoming raid (including time and place) on Facebook.
The Israel Defense Force canceled the raid out of concern that the posting, which was removed after other soldiers reported it to their commanders, might have reached hostile groups. IDF soldiers are prohibited from posting classified information, including photographs of military interest, online.
I am quite sure that ALL of us would be surprised if we knew how many people are reading/storing our posts.
