Photoshop Transformation…

Yesterday’s blog by Stephen Shankland at CNET cited Adobe’s Photoshop Product Manager’s (John Nack’s) Monday blog describing the desired transformation of the flagship Photoshop product to one with an interface that is customized to the task at hand.

All in all, this is a “Big Deal” for digital photographers, since no matter what other software you are using in your photography and no matter whether you are using Windows or Mac or something else, you are almost assuredly using Photoshop.

I think that most folks appreciate the utter power of Photoshop, and not necessarily, the nature of the interface. I hope that Adobe has learned from the input it received during the Lightroom Beta and will seek broad input from its users in any transformation of the interface. The concept that Adobe is “on the case” and that they wanted us to know is not enough, and it is not how a customer-facing organization does business. I suspect that Adobe has been soliciting input for a long time and will continue to do so.

We shall see if my suspicions are well-founded.
