From San Diego: Yun Zi, the giant panda cub

Five-month-old giant panda cub, Yun Zi (“Son of Cloud”) made his official debut today at the San Diego Zoo. The CNN iReport features video of the cub taken by freelance photojournalist, Chris Morrow.

Yun Zi was born on August 5, 2009 to mother Bai Yun (“White Cloud”) and father Gao Gao. At his last veterinary checkup on December 29, the cub weighed in at 19.4 pounds.

The San Diego Zoo is the home of five giant pandas: Yun Zi, mother Bai Yun, father Gao Gao, four-year-old sister, Su Lin, and two-year-old sister, Zhen Zhen.

Douglas Myers, the chief executive officer of the San Diego Zoo, expects Yun Zi to become an ambassador for conservation, since the giant panda is one of many animal species that is fighting to survive.

Right now, though, the “cuddly little tyke” is amazingly cute in the great video shot by Chris Morrow.
