The Bay Bridge is Back!

For awhile, anyway….

With a line of police “pace cars,” traffic crossed the Bay Bridge, which reopened today between Oakland and San Francisco!

Caltrans chief engineer, Rick Land, calls the new fix a short-term solution. Land said the the long-term repair will require another closure of the Bay Bridge in as little as four months. A number of different long-term solutions will be considered.

The bridge will be inspected daily for at least the next two weeks.

Meanwhile, a number of commuters and San Francisco businesses (which have lost customer traffic and money during the almost-one-week closure [1]) are just happy that the bridge is back!

For now….
