Samurai Student!

He would be in MAJOR trouble in California. In California, we prefer that people just “roll over” and become victims, and then we give them candlelight vigils. :-)

But John Belushi would be proud….

In Baltimore, Maryland, a Johns Hopkins University student killed an apparent burglar with a samurai sword after discovering the man in his garage around 1:30 AM today. An off-duty police officer and campus security who responded to a call reporting a suspicious person, discovered a suspected burglar with a severed left hand and severe lacerations to his upper body. The suspect died at the scene. The man had entered the home of several Johns Hopkins students. Four students, including one with a samurai sword, confronted the supected burglar in the garage. When the man lunged at the students, the student with the sword defended himself, severing the man’s left hand and cutting his upper body.

The burglary suspect had been released from prison on Saturday. Burglars had taken two laptops and a Sony PlayStation from the students’ home on Monday.

Authorities are determining whether the student will face criminal charges.

Let’s hope that it is still legal to defend yourself in Maryland. California makes it almost impossible to defend yourself in your home, with a plethora (definition 2) of stupid laws.

Hopefully, there is “common sense” left in Maryland (as for California, “…we’re all mad here…”), and hopefully, common sense will prevail.
