A message from West Covina Toyota: Cash for Clunkers

CNN iReports has a video from a gentleman, Ferdinand Raphos (excuse me if I misspelled your name), from West Covina Toyota (1) in Los Angeles County, California.

The video really speaks for itself. Ferdinand takes us on driving tour of the dealership’s leased parking lots.

I will have to agree vociferously with one of Ferdinand’s statements about “people who are against this program” (the Cash for Clunkers program) and extension (Are you listening, Republican obstructionists who voted NO on the CARS extension [and you Democrats who took awhile to “see the light”]?):

“They have no idea what’s going on right now!” :-)

Time to pull your heads out of your Washington, D.C. :-) and tour some middle- and working-class neighborhoods.

Enjoy the video!

(Note added later August 10, 2009: I enjoyed reading some of the [clueless] comments from readers of the note attached to the West Covina video. They remind me of a Dirty Harry quotation about “opinions,” which I will not repeat here. :-) If some of these folks would read (they can WRITE, so I ASSUME that they CAN read), they might learn that Ford Focus has been very successfully sold under the Cash for Clunkers Program and that many “Japanese” cars (and motorcycles) are assembled in the United States (mine was made in Greensburg, Indiana). But, as I learned in high tech, it is far easier for some folks to have opinions than to have “informed” opinions….) :-)

(Note added August 11, 2009: A report today that interest in Cash for Clunkers may have peaked :-) might be a very good thing for car buyers. A well-funded Cash for Clunkers extension (to ease dealer and buyer anxieties that money may run out), a need for dealers to clear out the 2009 stock, and  buyers in “no particular hurry” should keep price gouging by dealers under control. We shall see.)
