Hugh Hefner and Kimberley sell residence
Hugh Hefner and his wife, Kimberley, have sold their personal residence in Holmby Hills, CA, for $18 million, to the 25-year-old entrepreneur, Daren Metropoulos, who will be moving from Beverley Hills. The property is right next door to the Playboy Mansion.
Daren Metropoulos is the son of equity investor C. Dean Metropoulos and originally intended to purchase the estate for the value of its 2.3 acres of land. Now, Metropoulos plans to keep the 7300-square-foot English Manor-style house, which was built in 1929.
The house has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms and backs up to the Los Angeles Country Club. The house also has a formal living room, a library, a dining room, a media room and his-and-hers powder rooms. The master suite overlooks the gardens and grounds, which include a swimming pool.
Holmby Hills was conceived as a development of exclusive estates by Arthur Letts, a Broadway department store founder. The Hefner residence was designed by Arthur R. Kelly for the sister of Arthur Letts Jr., the original owner of the Playboy Mansion.
Hugh Hefner, 83, the founder of Playboy Enterprises, and Kimberley Conrad Hefner, 47 (Playmate of the Month for January 1988 and Playmate of the Year in 1989), have been separated for a decade.
