Fire in the Santa Cruz Mountains

A fire in the Santa Cruz Mountains today south of Highway 17 rapidly spread from 100 acres to over 3000 acres according to televised reports. The fire has burned vegetation and some structures.

Firefighters were fighting not only the fire but also sustained winds of 30 mph with gusts of 40 mph, which drove the blaze on Thursday.

Efforts to contain and extinguish the fire continue, and I will update the blog on Friday.
