Phil Spector gets 19 years to life in prison

In April, I wrote about the second degree murder conviction of Phil Spector in the 2003 death of 40-year-old actress, Lana Clarkson.

Today was the sentencing for that conviction.

Spector was sentenced to the maximum sentence of 19 years to life. Spector, now 69, would be 88 before he is eligible for parole.

Spector was silent and stone-faced during the sentencing by Judge Larry Paul Fidler. Spector’s lawyer gave a $17,000 check to Lana Clarkson’s mother, Donna Clarkson, to pay for the victim’s funeral expenses, which was part of the court-ordered sentence. Judge Fidler denied a motion for a new trial made by defense attorney Doron Weinberg, who plans to file an appeal.
