“The time has come…

…,” the Walrus said,

“To talk of many things:…”

Lewis Carroll, “The Walrus and The Carpenter” from Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, 1871

Right now, the time has come to talk about the Livermore Art Association Spring Art Show at “The Barn” in Livermore, CA. The show starts tomorrow, April 4 and runs through April 5, from 10 AM – 4 PM both days, PLUS a reception and awards ceremony (with BAND!) tomorrow night from 7 – 9 PM! The Art Show and reception are open to the public, with FREE admission. Page Mill wines will be poured at $3/glass.

There are a record number of submissions this year (about 340!) which is around a 30% increase from the record number of submissions LAST year! Music at the reception will be supplied by Jeff Reed and Friends (see videos), and (as I said before) Jeff has a couple of surprises up his sleeve.

There are a number of types of art present, including watercolors, acrylics, oils, pastels, photography, textiles, turned wood, metal sculpture, glass, jewelry, …. I got to wander around the show floor with nobody else present this afternoon, while listing to some Miles Davis that I put through the PA system. There is really a wonderful collection of art present, created by some very gifted people.

In addition, there is the “back room,” a place where you can purchase art of various types, as well as cards decorated with artistic images, crafts of various types, and goodies too numerous to mention. If you come to the Art Show, don’t miss this little treasure trove. Say hello to Rose and Norma while you are there!

I have the following four photos hanging (1, 2, 3, 4; since I am a Co-Chair, they were not judged), plus additional (unsigned) matted prints and cards, available in the back room.

Stop at the bar where I will be pouring wines from Page Mill Winery. Let me pour a glass for you.

I’ll see you “local” people tomorrow. Folks in other parts of the world – maybe we will see you next year!
