Livermore Art Association Spring Art Show

Tonight I am in the middle of adding entries to a computer database (good thing that I worked in databases for 17 years!) of some of the folks who will be showing artwork at the Livermore Art Association (LAA) annual Spring Art Show at “The Barn” (3131 Pacific Avenue) in Livermore, CA, Saturday and Sunday, April 4 & 5.

I thought that I would take just a few minutes to shamelessly :-) promote the event, which I am co-chairing this year with LAA President, Angela Johal.

The LAA Web page with information (which I have stolen :-) [Pablo Picasso said, “Good artists copy. Great artists steal.“]) about the show says:

“Show – Reception
LAA Spring Art Show
April 4-5 10:00am – 4:00pm
Livermore artists are putting the finishing touches on their artworks in anticipation of the annual Spring Art Show, held April 4-5 at The Barn on 3131 Pacific Avenue, Livermore. The show is presented by the Livermore Art Association, and is free and open to the public. Hours are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Everyone is invited to a festive reception on Saturday April 4 7:00pm – 9:00 pm, where d’oeuvres and local wines will be served. The band ‘Jeff Reed and Friends’ will provide lively music. Judges will present awards at 7:30 pm.

The show is co-chaired by Angela Johal and Bill Hackett. For entering artists, receiving will be Wednesday, April 1st, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Pickup is Sunday 4:00 – 5:00 pm. If you have questions or would like to help out at the show, contact Angela at angelajohaldesigns@yahoo.com. Download the Application (pdf) here.

The show will be a LOT of fun. Beside some of my preparatory tasks (involving 4th Street Banner, band, brochure, wine permit, painting and setup, etc.)  for the show (including getting some of my own photographs and photo gifts ready for exhibition and sale), I have the enviable :-) task of pouring wine (at a very good price) both days, except during the reception Saturday night, when I will be enjoying the presentations and awards, and listening to the trio, “Jeff Reed and Friends.”

(Note added April 2, 2009: I invited Jeff Reed out to The Barn to check things out this week. It was a real pleasure meeting and talking with Jeff, and he had a couple of surprises of his own! The Saturday night reception, which is free and open to the public (as is the SHOW), should be very special, indeed! Also, over 340 works of art have been submitted for the show, a new record and up over 30% from the previous record set at last year’s Spring Art Show!)

Let me pour a glass for YOU! (You folks scattered around the world will have to settle for a “virtual glass.” There are too many of you for us to drink a glass of wine in your honor! :-) )

If you are close to Livermore either day, please stop in to see all of the art, enjoy a glass of wine, and browse the art and artistic gifts that are for sale!

The Spring Art Show is the biggest event of the LAA year and attracts artists from many places. IMHO (In My Humble :-) Opinion) you will NOT be disappointed!

Back to the database…. :-) At least I get a “sneak peak” at some of the titles and media of the wonderful works of art to be submitted! I can’t wait to see the works themselves!
