Your (mostly Republican) friends in the U.S. Senate, redux!
Just a short, political aside tonight….
This time, although 72% of American say that they support the “Buffett Rule” that would require millionaires and billionaires to pay at least 30% income tax (according to a CNN poll of 1,015 Americans, including 910 registered voters), today, Senate Republicans, by a “near-party-line” vote of 51-45, derailed a Senate Democratic “Buffett Rule” bill.
As for Democrats (“equal time,” remember?), if they were smart (they’re NOT! 
), and they were to get on the historically accurate side of the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights (as confirmed by two recent Supreme Court decisions), they could ELIMINATE “gun rights” as a political differentiator and clarify differences between the two parties that might make them a real favorite of “the 99%” in America’s underclass (except for the “knee-jerk” people who react reflexively, before the information even hits the brain ).
But, as I said, they are not “smart.” They are merely the same type of ideologue as their Republican counterparts, with a different set of firmly held beliefs.
I spoke to one of my friends (from another country) recently. Although she finds American politics complex, she has come to the same, very rational, conclusions that I have reached after living my whole life in the United States – those of us in the 99% can trust NEITHER Democrats nor Republicans to represent our interests in Congress.
A sad state of affairs, in a “representative democracy….”
