Verizon to double 4G LTE sites by end of 2012 and sell only 4G LTE smartphones

In an interview with Dow jones Newswires that was published yesterday, Verizon CTO David Small said that the company will have “at least 400 markets” that are equipped with 4G LTE by the end of the year, up from its current 200 sites that cover 200 million Americans. This goal will bring Verizon 4G LTE coverage to 260 million Americans.

Verizon’s competitor, AT&T expects to cover ONLY about 150 million Americans by the end of the year. WAIT A MINUTE! Isn’t that how YOU understood AT&T’s MARKETING? :-) And Consumer Reports found AT&T dead last in customer satisfaction for the last two years, too! :-) (Then again, Microsoft has been making Windows for YEARS! :-) )

Small said that only 5% of Verizon’s customers are currently using 4G LTE.

But that should change, starting this week, with the release of the new iPad….

And, reported first by CNET, Verizon has reconfirmed that EVERY smartphone that it will offer going forward will carry 4G LTE!
