Supply and demand :-)

Sure. :-) Maybe.

But maybe not in the way it is usually “pitched” to us….

The American Automobile Association (AAA) announced today that the average price of self-serve unleaded gasoline in California is $2.23, which is UP $0.22 from January. This price increase is IN SPITE OF the decline and leveling off of crude oil prices in the $40/barrel range.

Oil refiners have cut back on the amount of gasoline being produced, since there is decreased demand in the current economy. A spokesman for AAA said that although gasoline prices have historically followed crude oil pricess, this relationship has not been true so far in 2009.

Angry yet?

What I enjoy most is watching oil companies use these profits to create commercials telling us how they are investing (to create monopolies) in wind, solar, and other renewable forms of energy.
