Neil Young’s property burned in $1.1 million warehouse fire

A three-alarm fire in a San Carlos warehouse that was filled with Neil Young’s musical equipment, vintage cars, and other memorabilia caused $1.1 million damage early today (November 9). The 10,000-square-foot building at 593 Quarry Road sustained $300,000 in damage, and Neil Young‘s possessions that burned were worth approximately $800,000. No one was injured, and investigators have ruled out arson.

The fire started around 2:55 AM, and firefighters had the fire under control by 3:45 AM. Fortunately, firefighters saved up to 70% of the memorabilia, including six classic cars, although one car was reported to have been damaged in the fire.

Young, who lives in a home near La Honda, surveyed the damage at the site late in the day. Workers and friends of young spent today moving guitars, photos, canisters of film and other items from the warehouse.

A spokesman for Young declined to comment on what items were in the warehouse.
