Windows Phone 7 launched in New York today, and I hope, for Microsoft’s (and Ballmer’s) sake(s), that it is more successful than Windows Mobile was. Maybe if it is, we can talk about it. (Note added November 5, 2010: See “New Microsoft’s mobile OS needs work.”)

Linux is making gains in server applications – no surprise there! There are “server” operating systems, and there are SERVER OPERATING SYSTEMS.

Facebook’s data downloader crams your online identity into a nice, neat, ZIP file. So… did Facebook already have this available for its corporate marketing customers and decide to make it available to “users,” too?

Meanwhile, I decided to “GO RANDOM!” (…and BIZARRE!)

CNN’s “Business” section reported today about a Lithuanian firm called Olialia (pronounced “ooh-la-la” [maybe something was “Lost in Translation“]) that intends to build a resort in the Maldives that will employ blonde women ONLY!

Good thing to have it there… Such a (conceivably) “sexist” and “hairist” resort could likely not be built in California! (On the other hand, why travel to the Maldives where there are places in California that probably, actually come close to “fitting the bill?” )

CNN quotes the Maldives Traveller:

“There are plans to build a high-class blondes resort with hotels, entertainment and spa centers on the island. Other important things — like an education [center] called ‘Pretty Women’ — will teach female guests to always be perfect and look great,” said the company’s Giedre Pukiene, according to the Maldives Traveller.

In the 21st century, I find this AMAZING!

Of course, a specially established airline (sure, the pilots and flight staff will all be blonds/blondes) will take the blondes to the “Island of Blondes.”

The company, which is run and staffed by blonde women, does not discriminate and considers all applicants:

“But we find that when women with dark hair work here, they are surrounded by all these beautiful blondes, so eventually they end up going blonde too,” she <the company’s Giedre Pukiene> told the BBC.

Olialia plans to open the resort in 2015, but the business plan is gathering the world’s attention, questions, and outrage – all very good for marketing and publicity! 😉
