“Ever since I was a young boy, I’ve played the silver ball…”

The Who, “Pinball Wizard” (1)

The Pacific Pinball Expo that took place in San Raphael this past weekend is the subject of a photo gallery on CNET News. The nearly 450 machines on display, set on “free play,” spanned a more-than-80-year history of pinball.

Michael Scheiss brought together artists, engineers, and designers of pinball machines for three fun-filled days of game playing, seminars, and tournaments, to raise money for the Pacific Pinball Museum in Alameda, California.

The CNET photo gallery devotes time to discussion of the unique art created for each machine, the complete collection of every production pinball machine built by the Stern Company from 1977 to 1982, pinball machine restoration, Bally solid-state machines, and the evolution of pinball machines from mechanical to electronic games.

Enjoy the photos!
