US Open of Surfing 2010, Huntington Beach
HP CEO Hurd is out and mobile hardware chief Papermaster from Apple is, too, but I’m sticking with the U.S. Open of Surfing at Huntington Beach. 
Just as news of Jerry Rice’s induction into the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, apparently did not make the sports news in southern California’s LA Times, news of the U.S. Open of Surfing has not filtered north from Huntington Beach.
I admit it. I don’t surf. But I really admire the photography….
So indulge your “inner surfer” and admire both the skills of the photographers and the skills of the surfers in a series of 21 photos (so don’t stop at number 13) in the LATimes online. First up is Carissa Moore who on Friday defeated Sally Fitzgibbons in the U.S. Open of Surfing women’s final. According to the caption, Moore is “the winningest competitor in National Scholastic Surfing Association history.”
