Apple iPhone 4 gets free bumpers, says Jobs
I just watched the live blog for Apple’s iPhone 4 press briefing, over CNET. The window is still up! 
The punch line is that free bumper cases will go out to iPhone 4 users and that there will be refunds for bumpers purchased by customers. If customers are still not happy, they can return the phone within 30 days for a full refund. The free bumpers and refunds will be handled entirely over the Web, as reported by CNET reporters in the briefing. The free bumpers are to handle reception issues that have been reported with iPhone 4’s wrap-around antenna.
There is also a software fix coming for the proximity sensor issue that has affected a few users.
Jobs just said, as reported by CNET, that people can get out of the AT&T contract through the refund process.
The bumper deal goes through September 30, at which time Apple will reassess.
