Looking back…
I was looking at the latest Apple ads, with animated PC and Mac, when I remembered a different time.
It was a darker time for Apple, then Apple Computer. The ads celebrated a different group of people from the ones whom we “reward” most in our society.
Normally, we reward, with money and power, people who are good at controlling, consolidating, and organizing, at imparting structure to collections of people and things (mostly so that they have a highly structured place for themselves to live). Sometimes we reward them with houses in “gated communities,” so that we don’t have them in OUR neighborhoods….
Some of these people are a bit like one of my managers, who admitted that he didn’t “have a creative bone” in his body.
And that’s all right…. We need folks like that too!
The Apple ads honored another group of people, the “crazy ones.” Tonight I give the links, so that those of you too young to remember, can look back.
