Fisk Mill Cove: diving for abalone

Abalone Diving Fisk Mill Cove

Tonight I will stay up until I get the shots of Saturday’s trip to Fisk Mill Cove for abalone diving up on the site. Fisk Mill Cove is the site of a lumber mill that operated in the late 1800’s and has been incorporated into Salt Point State Park. After a successful dive, one member of our party required assistance up onto a rocky point in the cove, as the result of a strong rip current or perhaps just a really strong ebb. Another member successfully navigated parallel to the shore and floated to shore a little south of the rocky point.

Abalone diving is not an activity to do alone.

PS – I uploaded the photos tonight, hmmm, this morning, to the California Coast and Outdoor Recreation sections of the Portfolio, and I retired some photos to make room. The retired photos are accessible from the Pro Gallery and from the Stock Photo Table.

You can view higher-resolution photos (*generally* 7-30 megabytes, compressed) at the Cheshire Cat Photo™ Pro Gallery on Shutterfly™, where you can also order prints and gifts decorated with the photos of your choice from the gallery. Apparel and other gifts decorated with some of our most popular photos can be ordered from the Cheshire Cat Photo™ Store on CafePress®.
