Neck deep in Art! :-)
As I write this, I am listening to the happy sounds of an old, borrowed, Epson Stylus Photo 1270 spit out the labels for the Livermore Art Association‘s (LAA’s) Spring Art Show at The Barn in Livermore, CA. Registration is tomorrow. Pre-registration by March 1, 2010 was required. (Oh, yeah, I am co-chairing the show, the biggest of the LAA’s year, again this year!)
Yesterday, I helped a team of painters do the only kind of painting I can – with a roller. 
Today a team of volunteers (thanks, everyone) assembled an array of flats for display of art. The array is asymmetrical and contains a lot of obtuse (definition 1) angles, rather than right angles, appealing to the more obtuse (definition 2) of us. All of you folks who like right angles – I left some for you! Hopefully we have enough space for the 338 entries. We have three more “flats” that we can add. There is also the “Back Room” which is full of potential gifts for sale.
After the last minute changes to the data base and the printing of the LAA membership list and labels, come three copies of a checklist to assist the folks at the registration tables. Then I will deliver them yet tonight, come home, and work on prepping my own entries to the show.
I knew that I was in trouble when I ate my first food today at 5:40 PM.
I have found that project management with artists is different from project management with high-tech folks (BIG surprise there! ), but that artists seem to rise to the occasion and pull together more than tech folks. Go figure.
Later tonight, I may get to add more to this, but I really don’t think so! I invite and encourage locals to come to the Spring Art Show on Saturday and Sunday from 10-4, and the public is also invited to the reception on Saturday night from 7-9 with live music by the quintet, RMJazz.
