Cease fire

The 2008 fire season will end on Monday at 8 A.M. in Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, and the western sides of San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties, as announced by Cal Fire’s Santa Clara unit. When a fire season ends, seasonal firefighters are released, and Cal Fire aerial resources are demobilized. After the fires in California early in the season, the end of fire season is very welcome.

The Monday end date will also coincide with the end of fire season in Sonoma, Lake, Napa, Yolo, Solano, and Colusa counties. Fire season ended for Cal Fire’s San MateoSanta Cruz unit last Monday.

The end of fire season is one thing to celebrate in California amid few others, during the increased unemployment nationally in October that seems to be continuing in all economic sectors of the country in November.
