Water outlook appears “grim”

California aqueduct, powerlines, and windmills

The evening news on KCBS5 ran a story about state water allocations for next year to 29 water districts across California, including my own.

A spokesperson for the California Department of Water Resources said that the initial announcement (which may be revised upwards if there is ample rain and snow in the state during the wet season) will be that the water districts will receive less than 20% of the amount of water requested.

California has experienced two consecutive years of severe drought, and, as I wrote last October, California is still “very much about water.”
