Overview of Photoshop CS4

A great overview of Photoshop CS4 is presented on Stephen Shankland’s blog “UNDEREXPOSED” at CNET. Some of the important points discussed are usage of the GPU (graphics processing unit), prices, 64-bit support on Windows but not Mac (and Adobe’s stated reason for this), built-in Flash 10 software, content-aware scaling (seam carving), and panoramic stitching improvements.

A GPU-enabled feature called Pixel Bender did not make the release but will likely be a free update, downloadable from the Adobe Labs site, according to the article.

The companion product for photographers, Lightroom, has 64-bit support on both Mac and Windows.

Read Shankland’s article for a great overview!

Adobe’ pages on Creative Suite 4 (CS4) are here. Creative Suite 4 is scheduled for release in October.
