Tiger attack: more of the story
You may remember my blog entry from December 26, 2007, about a tiger attack at the San Francisco Zoo that killed a 17-year-old (Carlos Sousa, Jr.) on Christmas Day.
Two brothers who were injured in the attack (Amritpal “Paul” Dhaliwal, age 20, and 27-year-old Kulbir Dhaliwal) are preparing to sue San Francisco and the zoo for serious injuries and emotional harm.
Amritpal “Paul” Dhaliwal, who still faces felony shoplifting charges in Alameda County, will spend 16 months in state prison after a Santa Clara judge ruled that he violated his probation involving a September 2007 incident leading San Jose police on a high-speed chase. Amritpal “Paul” Dhaliwal pleaded guilty to several probation violations that included possession of alcohol and marijuana.
Kulbir Dhaliwal has been charged in the same September 2007 incident with San Jose police. He has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of public drunkenness and resisting arrest, and was scheduled to go to trial on August 18. The trial has been delayed, according to the Examiner.
