WALL•E (WALL-E; See this animated film!)

Last week, I promised to write a bit about our trip to Emeryville. Emeryville is the home of Pixar Animation Studios, an amazing Bay Area business, and our purpose was to view a pre-release screening of the latest Disney/Pixar animated film, “WALL•E” (I will write this as WALL-E, just in case the interpunct gets “mangled” between me and you), for Pixar employee “Friends and Family.”

WALL-E is released today! The official site is here (BEWARE, those of you with slow connections, this even takes awhile on my cable modem).

I am proud to be counted among those “Friends” of employees. I have had the pleasure of viewing all of the Pixar and Disney releases from “Monsters, Inc.” onward, prior to release, in Pixar’s theater on its Emeryville campus. Watching films with creative people who “ooooh” and “ahhhhh” at projected shooting stars on the planetarium-like ceiling of the theater, and who applaud individual credits of the film, is an experience in itself!

No, I still won’t say anything about WALL-E! (Some employees think that too much has ALREADY been said pre-release! :-) ) There is much to see, for children and adults alike. Given that work on WALL-E began 4-5 years ago, the release is AMAZINGLY timely, in terms of world events.

(Update July 9, 2008: The New York Times online published this review of WALL-E under the headline, “WALL-E for President.”
