North Dome in Yosemite National Park
North Dome is a granite dome (of the Cretaceous Period) in Yosemite National Park. The elevation of North Dome is 7542 feet (2299 m). North Dome is the southern summit of Indian Ridge, 0.6 miles (0.97 km) north of Washington Column on the northeastern wall of Yosemite Valley. The photo above, taken in spring, shows ephemeral waterfalls pouring down the rock. These disappear later in the spring.
North Dome can be reached by several trails: from the Tioga Pass Road, by going up the Yosemite Falls trail and then traveling east, from Mirror Lake by the Snow Creek Falls trail, then north around Indian Rock, then south on the Tioga Pass Road trail.
North Dome is at coordinates 37 deg 45′ 24.98″ N, 119 deg 33′ 32″ W.
