Edward Kennedy 1932-2009

I cannot add much to what others have written about this truly great man, who unlike other great men, admitted his human frailty.

I would be negligent and disrespectful if I were not to mention his passing, here.

I agree with Bob Schieffer that one characteristic of Ted Kennedy that was different from those of the current crop of U.S. Senators was his ability to “reach across the aisle” and connect, at a human level, with people who shared almost none of his political beliefs. Ted Kennedy understood the meaning of “compromise.” Many modern politicians, in Washington, D.C. and in Sacramento, CA, do not.

America has lost a great leader, and “the common man” has lost an advocate.
