Surf’s UP in Southern California!

The Los Angeles Times reports that high temperatures and high SURF will be happening, starting tomorrow, at Southern California beaches. Hot weather is expected to drive thousands to the beach.

In fact, the surf may be SO high that people may be forced to stay out of the water!

:-(

Large waves are expected (i.e., predicted) on south-facing beaches in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, as a byproduct of 50-knot winds that developed off Tahiti and are blowing toward Southern California. The winds are expected to produce 8 to 12-foot swells.

The Hurley U.S. Open of Surfing competition is being held in Huntington Beach through Sunday.

A warning to boaters in south-facing harbors to “anchor down” has been issued by the National Weather Service. Homeowners on the beaches have been warned of increased erosion and high tides.

Sean Collins, the chief forecaster for surfline.com has warned of dangerous conditions and a lot of rip currents.
