California public pensions in six figures

As California issues IOUs and furloughs state workers, an advocacy group, the California Foundation for Fiscal Responsibility has published an online database of the name and annual payout of each of the 5100 state retirees who draws a pension of more than $100,000/year.

The list is HERE!

Retired Vernon City Administrator, Bruce Malkenhorst, Sr. is at the top of the list, because he draws a nearly $500,000 annual pension after being charged with embezzling public funds.

Donna Irwin, a retired captain with the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department sought a restraining order to block the county’s retirement system from releasing the amount of her pension to a local newspaper. Irwin is among those with a six-figure pension, according to a notice sent out by administrators. A judge denied her request after the LA Times and the California Newspaper Publisher’s Association joined the Contra Costa Times in court to urge that the records be released, since there is public money at issue.

Other six-figure pensions are discussed in the LA Times article.
