Microsoft resumes XP and Vista updates

Awhile ago, I mentioned the reported incompatibility between Windows XP Service Pack 3 (also Windows Vista Service Pack 1) and Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System (RMS).

Today, CNET noted that Microsoft announced the release of XP SP3 for Web downloads and the resumption of automatic updateds to Vista SP1, after the development of a filter that will prevent machines running Dynamics RMS from getting either update.

(Note on May 21, 2008: However, please see THIS!)

A fix for the incompatibility itself is in testing, and is expected to be publicly available this month, according to the CNET article.
