Remembering D-Day, at Battery Chamberlin

I received an email from Erik (the historical re-enactor and forrmer history major whom we met at Battery Chamberlin on Baker Beach in San Francsico) about a remembrance of D-Day (65th anniversary) to be held at Battery Chamberlin this weekend on June 6th and 7th from 11 AM to 3 PM, both days. The event will involve a dozen or so re-enactors, equipment, and vehicles. Battery Chamberlin was part of the seacoast defense of the United States and helped to guard the Golden Gate.

The two-day event to remember D-Day is described in this poster (PDF) from the National Park Service and the Coast Artillery Historical Association. Since parking is limited at Baker Beach (just TRY finding a parking spot on a warm sunny day! :-) ), carpooling is suggested. Additional parking is available on Bowley Street.

For additional information, please call 415-561-4323 or visit the Visitor Center located in the Officers Club, Building 50, on Moraga Avenue near Arguello Boulevard. The Visitor Center is open daily from 9 AM until 5 PM.
