Ski resorts in the Sierra expect BIG weekend!

Mount Tallac, Lake Tahoe

The storm that passed through the Bay Area rapidly on Thursday dumped about a FOOT of new snow on Lake Tahoe and the ski resorts in the area! (Image is of Mount Tallac, in June!)

Northstar and Alpine Meadows, both in North Lake Tahoe, reported 10 and 11 inches of fresh powder respectively. Mt. Rose picked up 7 inches while Kirkwood, farther to the south, got about 5 inches overnight.

“Our whole village is covered,” said Marcie Bradley, a spokeswoman for Northstar, adding the resort had 39 runs open with more expected to open next week. “It’s like a winter wonderland up here. It’s awesome.”
The next chance of NEW snow will be Sunday, along with “… an unsettled weather pattern that could bring more precipitation to the mountains for the first half of next week.”
Skiers, rejoice!
