MC Hammer arrested by Dublin, California police!
For resisting an officer? 
Yes, it’s “Hammer time!”
Stanley Kirk Burrell, better known as MC Hammer, slammed Dublin police by social media on Saturday, suggesting that he was a victim of racial profiling, after being arrested on Thursday night outside a shopping center. He was cited for resisting an officer. Alameda County Sheriffs confirmed the arrest.
Hammer tweeted that he was sitting in his car after lifting weights when an officer he described as a “chubby elvis-looking dude was tapping on my car window, I rolled down the window and he said ‘Are you on parole or probation?’ ”
Dublin police did not return calls seeking comment. Hammer, 50, who lives in Tracy, was arrested in the Hacienda Crossings shopping center next to Interstate 580 at about 10:20 p.m. He was taken into custody and taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, where he was booked, cited and released.
Although Hammer did not respond to a request sent by the press via Twitter, he had the following to say about the officer’s demand for his identification, according to SFGate.com:
“While I was handing him my ID he reached in my car and tried to pull me out the car but forgot he was on a steady donut diet,” Hammer tweeted.
“It was comical to me until he pulled out his guns, blew his whistle and yelled for help (MallCop) !!! But make no mistake he’s dangerous,” Hammer continued.
Hammer also tweeted: “only thing more dangerous than a scared man with a gun, is a scared man with an agenda, a gun and a badge.”
He concluded his series of tweets with a final jab at the officer:
“I will now answer his question, contrary to his personal beliefs, all people of color are not on parole or probation fat boy !!!”
Hammer became famous as a rapper and dancer from Oakland. I was surprised to learn that a lot of Dublin schoolkids as young as 5th and 6th grade know who Hammer is, and they know and like his music (e.g., “U Can’t Touch This” [YouTube] and “2 Legit 2 Quit” [YouTube]). They will probably be excited to learn that he was at Hacienda Crossings.
