Man bites dog?

Nope. But he tried to STRANGLE one… a POLICE dog, no less! :-)

Early Friday, 25-year-old Ryan Dunbar of Hemet was taken into custody in Lake Elsinore, after he tried to CHOKE a police dog that BIT him during a chase.

(I actually camped overnight once in Lake Elsinore, with a group of college friends, during my FIRST visit to California! The road there from the coast is incredible!)

About 2:45 a.m., deputies went to the Peppertree Mobile Home Park, 32401 Stoneman Street, after a stolen vehicle had been spotted in the area, sheriff’s officials said. Dunbar sped into the mobile home park in the reported stolen vehicle and rammed through a chain-link fence, the release said. He ran from deputies into a wash area.

Deputies surrounded the area and found Dunbar hiding in heavy brush. He ignored deputies’ commands to surrender and a police dog was sent in to apprehend him, sheriff’s officials said. The dog bit him on the hand and Dunbar tried to strangle the dog, the release said.

Dunbar was arrested on suspicion of battery on a police dog (REMEMBER that, if you ever get the urge :-) ), possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, and unlawfully driving a stolen vehicle.

Dunbar suffered a minor injury from the dog bite. The dog was treated by a veterinarian for a minor injury.

Authorities ask that anyone with information call the sheriff’s Lake Elsinore Station 951-245-3300 or, after hours and on weekends, sheriff’s dispatch, 951-776-1099.
