Animal sightings “amazing the past two weeks” in California!

A 19-photo gallery in SFGate.com  shows “…record fish, bobcats, gray fox, a coyote with prey, wild turkeys, bald eagles, a dolphin surfing and whale spouting.” An “up-and-down” pattern (the “Swing Effect”) in the weather has resulted in large numbers of animal sightings and a few record fish in the Bay Area and the rest of Northern California! The pattern is ideal for fish and wildlife and results in great opportunities for photography. Is California an amazing state for wildlife, or WHAT?!! :-)

Flooding in December pushed the growth of vegetation (think “animal food”) and churned lakes and streams! Then, a drought in January, with clear weather, cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon for weeks on end, REALLY sent birds and beasts out to feed!

Stories about the photos posted by San Francisco Chronicle outdoor columnist, Tom Stienstra, are in the SFGate Outdoors section.
