The most-expensive property ever sold in California…

… is ALSO the second-most-expensive private residence ever sold in the United States!

The home, previously owned by financier Tully Friedman, quietly exchanged hands in November of 2012 for a record-setting $117.5 million (according to SF Luxe), surpassing the $100 million Yuri Milner paid for his Woodside estate, only 10 miles away.

The nine-acre estate is located on Mountain Home Road (Google Map) in Woodside, California, home to many wealthy Silicon Valley tech and finance folks. The 8,930-square-foot Neoclassical home (4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms) was designed by East Coast architect Allan Greenberg, who has been named to Architectural Digest’s Top AD 100 list. The home was built in 2005 and has panoramic views of the Woodside mountains.

SFGate.com says:

Rumor mill has it that the buyer is a Korean banker, contrary to what SF Luxe reports. While SF Luxe can’t yet divulge the name of the buyer, “…this section of Woodside is a Who’s Who of Silicon Valley tech and finance, so it’s a name with which you’re undoubtedly familiar.” Who could it be?

For more details and pictures, go to SF Luxe.

The most expensive private residence ever sold in the U.S…? That was a Montana ranch (the Big O Ranch) that was listed for $132 million and also sold last year! The ranch was sold it to billionaire Stanley Kroenke, the 10th largest landowner in the U.S,, who owns the Denver Nuggets and the St. Louis Rams. The ranch sits on 124,000 acres in Augusta, Montana.

It’s good to know that “the 1%” are still doing OK. 😉
