Angler’s Lodge and Casting Pools, Golden Gate Park

Angler’s Lodge, Golden Gate Park

Another hidden nugget in Golden Gate Park is the Angler’s Lodge, with its associated casting pools, built in 1938 by the Works Progress Administration (after 1939, the Work Projects Administration). The facilities are home to the Golden Gate Angling & Casting Club which has more than 500 members worldwide. Any person who is interested in casting or fly fishing as a sport is eligible to become a member. The Angler’s Lodge is located near the stables, across John F. Kennedy Drive from the buffalo paddock. The pools are cool and relaxing places to just sit and watch anglers practice their art.
