Art thefts at the Livermore Public Library

In the last two days, TWO paintings have been stolen from the Livermore Art Association (LAA) Group Show at the Livermore Public Library, one each day! The Library is conveniently located right next door to the Livermore Police Department. The second theft occurred the day after the first theft was reported to the Livermore Police Department. The total value of the two stolen paintings is about $700.

As LAA president, I ask both of the victims of the thefts, who are responsible for the insuring of their works, to file reports with the police if they have not already done so. There are surveillance cameras at the Library, and the Livermore Police Department needs police reports of the thefts.

In addition, I ask any members of the public who may have witnessed the removal of pieces of art from the public library to inform the Livermore Police Department at (925) 371-4900 with your observations.

Thanks very much.

(Note added September 27, 2012: The following description of the art thief was issued by Livermore Police from the photos on videotape: “Older white male, 30-50 years, 250 pounds, full beard & moustache, black hat, white t-shirt, khaki shorts.” I do not know the results for analysis by facial recognition software.)
