Snowfall in the Sierra this weekend?

Yipe!

The National Weather Service is forecasting SNOW to fall around 11 AM on Friday, above 5,500 feet of elevation! Echo Summit on Highway 50 and Donner Summit on Interstate 80, as well as lake level at Lake Tahoe are ALL above this elevation! The National Weather Service is ALSO forecasting HIGH WINDS!

(Have a nice day! :-) )

Caltrans officials said that “chain controls” could be in effect at times on Friday! Scattered snow and rain showers are expected in the mountains through Saturday. Partial sun is forecast for Sunday, and Monday in the mountains if expected to be sunny!

“Motorists should plan ahead for adverse driving conditions by packing provisions, ensuring the vehicle is in good working order with proper tire tread and to carry chains,” Caltrans said in a press statement today.

As for me, I will be staffing The Cheshire Cat Photo™ booth at Art in the Vineyard 2012, which is located at Wente Vineyards Estate Winery, 5565 Tesla Road, Livermore, CA!

Locals – unless you are a hard-core skier/snowboarder, SKIP the mountains this weekend, and we’ll see you at Art in the Vineyard!
