Van Halen to tour in 2012; David Lee Roth to sing!

“The best rock band ever to come out of Pasadena” will tour in 2012 (tickets will go on sale January 10 according to the band’s Web site), unfortunately minus bassist Michael Anthony, as announced, Monday! Back in 2007, three of the original members (David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, and Alex Van Halen) with Anthony replaced by Eddie’s son Wolfgang Van Halen on bass, began a well-received tour that was canceled midway so that Eddie, who had been drinking heavily, could enter rehab.

Van Halen will tour in 2012 with frontman David Lee Roth, guitarist Eddie Van Halen, drummer Alex Van Halen and bassist Wolfgang Van Halen, once again. Specific dates for the tour have not been announced.

CNN says:

On top of the tour, the band is also getting ready to rock on a new album, Van Halen’s first with Roth in about 28 years. The group’s last collaboration, “1984,” which was released on the last day of 1983, included hits like “Jump,” (YouTube) “Panama” (YouTube), and “Hot for Teacher” (YouTube).

The band signed on with Interscope Records in November 2011. The rumors of a new studio album and a tour started in 2010.
