Surfin’ Santa braves small waves, low tide, and rocks in Malibu!

“Little Saint Nick” (YouTube)The Beach Boys

Suboptimal surfing conditions did not deter Surfing Santa from his annual ride (video) at Surfrider Beach, (now Malibu Lagoon State Beach) in Malibu, California! He caught a few small waves, riding with Mrs. Claus, Frosty the Snowman, and a surfing elf!

Santa and group played with children, listened to their Christmas wishes, handed out candy canes, and helped to build castles and snowmen out of sand.

Some of Santa’s helpers include Michael Pless, his wife Jill, and his son Michael Jr. At their surfing school, M&M Surfing School, in Seal Beach. Pless teaches children with special needs, autistic children, and children with personal challenges, how to surf. Pless believes that surfing is therapeutic and a healthy physical outlet. In November, M&M Surfing School teamed up with Wounded Warriors to teach over 100 veterans to surf and paddleboard, to give the wounded warriors other means of mental and physical healing.

This is the 17th year that Surfing Santa has brought joy to the children of the California coast, so long that he now holds the World Record as Surfing Santa.

Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
